THE ISSUE
Across the world, users are being locked out of their accounts without warning, explanation, or meaningful support. What was once occasional is now becoming systemic.
In recent months, major online platforms have expanded their reliance on artificial intelligence to enforce policies, while reducing access to human moderation and support systems. These automated systems are designed to act quickly, but they also introduce serious risks.
Users are increasingly reporting account restrictions, content removals, and permanent disables triggered by automated decisions, often without clear reasoning or effective resolution pathways.
At the same time, AI-powered support tools are being rolled out globally. While these systems provide general explanations or guide users through appeal processes, they often cannot reverse enforcement actions or restore access. Many users are left navigating systems with no meaningful assistance.
Governments and regulators around the world are beginning to respond, introducing new rules and scrutiny around platform accountability, artificial intelligence and user protection.
This is not an isolated issue. It is a systemic failure driven by automation without accountability, leaving real people, businesses, and communities without access, answers, or support.
“Access without support isn’t access at all.”
Why This Matters
Real people are affected when systems fail.
Automated decisions are impacting access, income, data, and communication at scale, often without clear explanations or meaningful support. What should be rare is becoming increasingly common.
The Issue. The Impact. The Demands.
This campaign calls for fairer enforcement, clearer decisions, real support, and stronger accountability when automated systems affect people’s access, income, data, and communities.

GLOBAL IMPACT
This issue is affecting users worldwide across industries, professions, and communities.
... And more.
Our Demands
Fairness. Transparency. Accountability.
These are the fundamental standards required to ensure fair treatment, clear decisions, and meaningful access to support.
As automated systems take on a greater role in enforcement, the risks to users increase when transparency and accountability are not in place.
Without these safeguards, people can lose access to their accounts, data, and communities without explanation or effective resolution.
These standards are essential to ensure that systems serve people, not the other way around.
1. Human Review
All enforcement actions should include access to human review.
2. Clear Decisions
Users must receive clear and specific reasons for account actions.
3. Fair Appeals
Users must receive clear and specific reasons for account actions.
4. Real Support
Users must have access to real customer support when issues arise.
5. Data Protection
User data and access should be protected from wrongful loss or restriction.
6. Transparent Policies
Platform rules should be clear, consistent, and easy to understand.
7. Consistent Enforcement
Policies must be applied fairly across all users and situations.
8. Independent Oversight
Systems should be subject to independent oversight and accountability.
