Millions rely on digital platforms, but users are often left without meaningful support when accounts are wrongly disabled.

This total reflects support for the official People Over Platforms petition and movement.

SIGN THE PETITION

Multi-line address

THE ISSUE

Across the world, users are being locked out of their accounts without warning, explanation, or meaningful support. What was once occasional is now becoming systemic.

In recent months, major online platforms have expanded their reliance on artificial intelligence to enforce policies, while reducing access to human moderation and support systems. These automated systems are designed to act quickly, but they also introduce serious risks.

Users are increasingly reporting account restrictions, content removals, and permanent disables triggered by automated decisions, often without clear reasoning or effective resolution pathways.

At the same time, AI-powered support tools are being rolled out globally. While these systems provide general explanations or guide users through appeal processes, they often cannot reverse enforcement actions or restore access. Many users are left navigating systems with no meaningful assistance.

Governments and regulators around the world are beginning to respond, introducing new rules and scrutiny around platform accountability, artificial intelligence and user protection.

This is not an isolated issue. It is a systemic failure driven by automation without accountability, leaving real people, businesses, and communities without access, answers, or support.

“Access without support isn’t access at all.”

Why This Matters

Real people are affected when systems fail.

Automated decisions are impacting access, income, data, and communication at scale, often without clear explanations or meaningful support. What should be rare is becoming increasingly common.

The Issue. The Impact. The Demands.

This campaign calls for fairer enforcement, clearer decisions, real support, and stronger accountability when automated systems affect people’s access, income, data, and communities.

66,000+

1

Global Movement

Uniting voices across borders and platforms.

GLOBAL IMPACT

This issue is affecting users worldwide across industries, professions, and communities.

... And more.

Our Demands

Fairness. Transparency. Accountability.

These are the fundamental standards required to ensure fair treatment, clear decisions, and meaningful access to support.

As automated systems take on a greater role in enforcement, the risks to users increase when transparency and accountability are not in place.

Without these safeguards, people can lose access to their accounts, data, and communities without explanation or effective resolution.

These standards are essential to ensure that systems serve people, not the other way around.

1. Human Review

All enforcement actions should include access to human review.

2. Clear Decisions

Users must receive clear and specific reasons for account actions.

3. Fair Appeals

Users must receive clear and specific reasons for account actions.

4. Real Support

Users must have access to real customer support when issues arise.

5. Data Protection

User data and access should be protected from wrongful loss or restriction.

6. Transparent Policies

Platform rules should be clear, consistent, and easy to understand.

7. Consistent Enforcement

Policies must be applied fairly across all users and situations.

8. Independent Oversight

Systems should be subject to independent oversight and accountability.

My Facebook account under was recently permanently disabled. I believe this was an error as I have not violated the community standards. I have appealed using facial recognition, but it was immediately unsuccessful and denied. This account is very important to my family and I. We have a lot of photos and memories together posted on this account. I seldom post on FB and when I do they are not violating any community standards. I hope meta will take a look at this petition.

I genuinely believe my accounts were wrongfully disabled, whether as the result of a coordinated reporting attack by competing advocacy groups or booking agents, or simply an automated enforcement error. Regardless of the cause, it is deeply concerning that Meta can make a decision with such serious personal, professional, and reputational consequences without providing meaningful context, identifying the alleged violation, or giving the account holder a reasonable opportunity to respond and demonstrate that the accusations are unfounded. I am not going to give up on resolving this. I am fully prepared to pursue every appropriate legal remedy available to me, along with any other legitimate avenue that may help restore my accounts and clear my name. However, I sincerely hope this can be resolved without the need for prolonged legal action. At this point, I am desperate for meaningful assistance and for an actual person to review my case. I genuinely did nothing that would justify this action, and I am certainly not a danger or threat to anyone. Being associated with such a serious accusation is both distressing and damaging, particularly when I have not even been given the opportunity to understand what allegedly triggered it or defend myself against it.

My Instagram and Facebook accounts were disabled without a clear explanation or meaningful human review. I have tried the available appeal and support channels, but I keep encountering automated responses and conflicting account-status information. I request a fair manual review, a clear explanation of the alleged violation, and restoration of my accounts if this was an automated error.

Please restore my Facebook, Instagram, and Threads accounts. My accounts have been disabled for over a year, and I have repeatedly tried to appeal and contact Meta through email and other available channels, but I have never received any response. I believe my accounts were disabled by mistake. These accounts are extremely important to me, both personally and professionally, and losing access to them for such a long period has caused significant difficulties. I sincerely ask Meta to review my case again and restore my Facebook, Instagram, and Threads accounts as soon as possible. I am willing to provide any identification or additional information required to verify that I am the rightful owner of these accounts. Please do not ignore my case. I have been waiting for over a year and would greatly appreciate a response and a fair review of my accounts.

My Facebook, Instagram, and Threads accounts were recently disabled without any apparent reason. I believe this may have been caused by a mistake made by Meta’s AI or automated review system. These are my personal accounts, which I have personally managed and used for many years. I have never given control of my accounts to anyone else, nor have I intentionally violated Meta’s Community Standards or policies. My accounts contain many years of photos, posts, conversations, friendships, and other precious memories. These are not simply social media posts to me—they are important records of my life and memories that I have treasured for many years. Therefore, I sincerely ask Meta to conduct a manual review of my accounts rather than relying solely on an automated decision. If there is any specific content or activity that was considered a violation, I would greatly appreciate it if you could let me know the reason so that I can understand what happened and take appropriate action. If this was indeed a mistake or false positive by the automated system, I respectfully ask that you remove the restriction and restore my access to Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. I am willing to cooperate with any identity verification or security checks necessary to confirm that these accounts belong to me and are personally managed by me. I sincerely hope the Meta team can reconsider my case, manually review my accounts, and restore my access to the accounts and the valuable memories I have accumulated over the years. Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

Human support is only available to verified members. Only after getting my last remaining account verified did I start crunching numbers… at $18 per head with over 3 Billion users, if even .5% of wrongfully disabled accounts try to pay for support, metas looking at millions in support revenue for a problem they’ve admitted they created. Disgusting and unethical.
