THE ISSUE

Across the world, users are being locked out of their accounts without warning, explanation, or meaningful support. What was once occasional is now becoming systemic.

In recent months, major online platforms have expanded their reliance on artificial intelligence to enforce policies, while reducing access to human moderation and support systems. These automated systems are designed to act quickly, but they also introduce serious risks.

Users are increasingly reporting account restrictions, content removals, and permanent disables triggered by automated decisions, often without clear reasoning or effective resolution pathways.

At the same time, AI-powered support tools are being rolled out globally. While these systems provide general explanations or guide users through appeal processes, they often cannot reverse enforcement actions or restore access. Many users are left navigating systems with no meaningful assistance.

Governments and regulators around the world are beginning to respond, introducing new rules and scrutiny around platform accountability, artificial intelligence and user protection.

This is not an isolated issue. It is a systemic failure driven by automation without accountability, leaving real people, businesses, and communities without access, answers, or support.

“Access without support isn’t access at all.”

Why This Matters

Real people are affected when systems fail.

Automated decisions are impacting access, income, data, and communication at scale, often without clear explanations or meaningful support. What should be rare is becoming increasingly common.

The Issue. The Impact. The Demands.

This campaign calls for fairer enforcement, clearer decisions, real support, and stronger accountability when automated systems affect people’s access, income, data, and communities.

Global Movement

Uniting voices across borders and platforms.

GLOBAL IMPACT

This issue is affecting users worldwide across industries, professions, and communities.

... And more.

Our Demands

Fairness. Transparency. Accountability.

These are the fundamental standards required to ensure fair treatment, clear decisions, and meaningful access to support.

As automated systems take on a greater role in enforcement, the risks to users increase when transparency and accountability are not in place.

Without these safeguards, people can lose access to their accounts, data, and communities without explanation or effective resolution.

These standards are essential to ensure that systems serve people, not the other way around.

1. Human Review

All enforcement actions should include access to human review.

2. Clear Decisions

Users must receive clear and specific reasons for account actions.

3. Fair Appeals

Users must receive clear and specific reasons for account actions.

4. Real Support

Users must have access to real customer support when issues arise.

5. Data Protection

User data and access should be protected from wrongful loss or restriction.

6. Transparent Policies

Platform rules should be clear, consistent, and easy to understand.

7. Consistent Enforcement

Policies must be applied fairly across all users and situations.

8. Independent Oversight

Systems should be subject to independent oversight and accountability.

My son has been permanently banned from Facebook and Instagram for nearly a year now and it's been devastating for him. On September 12th 2025 he appeared on national Canadian TV news which ran a news story on Meta and how it had affected his personal life and his photography business and his reputation for totally fictitious accusations. Still not resolved and he believes it never will be. He has had to pick him self up from the floor He has been totally destroyed by this.

My Meta account has been falsely banned by meta ai for almost a year now. My appeal was denied immediately and any attempt to contact Meta was just automated responses! If anyone at Meta is seeing this please restore my Facebook account "Plexistellar".

This is quite disturbing and disheartening. At this point, this issue goes beyond a single disabled account. New accounts I create are also being restricted shortly after creation, even without activity. I have now tested this across multiple devices and accounts, and I am struggling to understand what is triggering these actions. I am not a spammer, scammer, or bot. I am a medical doctor, and I use Instagram in a completely normal way primarily to share photos and connect with people. I do not engage in harmful activity, automation, impersonation, or guideline violations.

I have signed up on Facebook in 2010 with my musician name. Never have I been told to use my real name. And so I did just that for 14 years, before my never used ad account got breached, and after adding 2FA and changing the password, I get locked out. And I have been for over a year. Why? Because there is no customer support (even though it would take a human to confirm my identity in two minutes by checking an official YouTube upload of my song, then my ID card, see the names match, as well as my date of birth...), and the real-name policy is stupid. Use a name people call you by, they say. I do just that. And yet, we cannot confirm your identity, please use a different ID, and zero help on giving access to my data and my account back to me.

My account was hacked and i have proofs, screenshots, my account have 14yrs and my appeal was denied in less than a minute, I have never violated the community terms, I contacted Meta and despite the evidence, they tell me the decision is final because their AI decided it that way. I have no access to any legal channels to appeal. So many memories, conversations, photos, and so much more are gone.

I am a U.S. Army Veteran and Prior Law Enforcement Officer. I use Threads to grow my business and also Facebook. I had an Instagram account but only to be able to access Threads. I only had a few posts on there of Horses and some pictures I drew. Meta said they suspended my account due to a violation on Instagram. I don’t see how a drawing of Polar Bears or a picture of me with horses is a violation of anything. I had thousands of followers and customers for my Veteran Owned Business for the last ten years. I have lost a massive amount of cash flow and customer contacts due to Meta suspending my accounts wrongfully and without any proof beyond a reasonable doubt that any infraction occurred. When I tried to appeal the decision, they denied me in a very short time with again no reason behind their decision. I use Threads to post about my son’s tragic death and I built a web of followers who chat with me and give me comfort from around the world while I grieve and mourn his loss. Now those friends are gone. I have struggled from this situation Meta has caused emotionally and financially. Meta needs to answer for what they are doing to the Business Owners along with so many others around the world!

I am a victim of losing my social media accounts ran by meta. They have accused me of child sexual exploitation with no grounds to do so. I filed a report with my attorney General in March and have not heard back or been able to get an update on my complaint. I have lost 18 years of pictures, my business page and the ability to connect with people who I have no other way to talk to. They claim they have reported my to NCMEC which can completely ruin me. I have done nothing wrong and never would do anything like I am being accused of, with no specifics to show proof.

Hello, My account has been disabled for approximately six months. I believe this may be the result of an error in automated enforcement systems. I have already attempted the available support and recovery channels without success. The account was used for creative and professional purposes, including promoting my services and commission work, and its removal has impacted my ability to operate my online activities. I kindly request a manual review of this case to verify whether the enforcement was applied correctly. Thank you.
